What a summer. It is 109° on my shaded porch in Reno right now. Tahoe is in the mid 90° range. Even the passes are in the mid eighty's.
I think I'll ride up the mountain tonight after the sun sets.

Watch out for the wild life, they will be enjoying the cooler temps as well.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Good point Mark. Those tourist's up in Tahoe are nuts.
I'll keep an eye out for bears, deer, wild horses and antelope also. Thank God we don't have kangaroos.

I am soooo happy to be out of the low desert...120* today in Palm Desert, no thanks. It's not that the day time temps are so high, it's that everything gets heat soaked and nothing cools off at night. It's like having a hot dark blanket over your head at night. The bank in town had a digital time and temp display. It was common to see 10:00pm and 100 degree displayed on those hot summer nights.

Presently, up here in Sedona, AZ. @ 4350' it was only 100* today and further up the mountain in Flagstaff @ 6900' it was only slightly cooler at 98* however the afternoon monsoon rains come in from the Sea of Cortez and cool things down nicely....just don't get caught out riding thru them. You must take shelter. They dump an impressive amount of rain in a short time. Nights up here in Northern Arizona cool down to 70* very comfortable.

Things are supposed to cool back down to the normal mid 80's on Tuesday.

Cheers
