Hi David,

The simple answers are -

1 - Yes.

2 - Yes, and then No.

3 - No.

There's a little more to it than that, but not much really.

The FJR master cylinder will have 3 prongs for the switch wiring connector whereas the FJ has 2 - you just need to fit appropriate connectors to the 2 FJ wires (one prong remains unconnected - I can't recall which one, but its simple to identify from the wiring diagrams)

If someone is parting out the R6, they probably have brake pads in the calipers, but even if not, for my money it's worth ditching the FJ calipers for the R6 ones even if you have to buy new pads. And also get some braided stainless brake lines (from RPM/Spiegler) - you won't be sorry.

I actually have a R6 shock absorber fitted to our 2001 FZ1, which works brilliantly (with modified dog bones and modified mountings on a brand new shock), but I bought it as a kit set up specifically, from a suspension expert known for the conversion. I'd never have tried to sort that out myself - too many variables with a used shock absorber.

Bones

FJR brake masters must differ from country to country, I've got from memory a 2006 FJR ABS master which has two contacts and the standard brake switch wires plug straight in, but the clutch master switch from can't remember year has three contacts which I had to modify to get the clutch safety system to work properly. I do remember the brake master being 16 mm and clutch being 14mm.

Too young to be old but old enough to know better.

Or it could just be my old age dementia setting in and I'm confusing it with my FJR clutch master cylinder !!
