Guys in the north well know the feeling, I imagine. Yesterday the temp ran up to about 70 degrees, and my wife had volunteered her afternoon at church. I double checked the insurance date on my policy, thinking it had expired, but, son of a gun, I had until May 5. Put the battery in, aired up both tires, dumped about 3 gallons of alcohol free 91 octane fuel in the tank, and brought the beast to life after a long winter nap. I put some lube on the chain, grabbed my sunglasses, and checked on the turkeys that loiter down near the gun range. I stopped to fill it with more of the good fuel, and just hung around the neighborhood.
It has been a hard month, I lost my Mother on March 24th, 7 days short of her 83rd birthday. There is a dumpster fire of estate stuff to take care of, and my younger brother, who lived with her, is disabled and pretty much unable to afford a free house. I've been away from work for a week and a half, and feel like I could use another week. However, life must go on.
But, for perhaps 30 minutes of riding, I was able to put most of that behind me. I'm back.

I think Peter Egan proclaimed this to be "Gassing Day"  - the official motorcycle "holiday" that ends the winter hibernation and begins the spring riding season!

Ted, Glad you were able to get that ride in. I vote that you take a another 30 minutes. You have plenty of gas.

Got out again, last night. Too dang cold to go far or fast, but, it was a nice half hour of touring my neighborhood, enjoying the sunset, and doing a diagnostic "listen" to the bike in operation.

I'm ready for spring. Past ready.

Down here in Northern Illinois it is similar, but not quite as cold.  The first few rides of the season were not very nice nor very long.  Today will be in the 50's though.  Great to get the weather that makes it enjoyable.

I am waiting for the first ride to work. Morning temps have been right between 35-40 degrees, and while I could in theory ride at that temp, I haven't been in a hurry. When I see mornings closer to 65, that ride will come.
