My girlfriend is sponsoring a trip to Kalispell Montana. To visit her highschool friend who lives in Kalispell. We are going to take her son, his friend and 3 motorcycles.
We are going to plan the trip out and back Saturday. And I was looking for suggestions of places to visit/stop on the way out and back. I'm not good at finding good stuff to see so really appreciate any help I can get.
Thanks much

This will be the first fun thing I've done since I started building my house. Almost 3 years ago.

There's Mt Rushmore/Crazy Horse memorials in the Black Hills, S.Dakota.  And Devil's Tower in Wyoming, not too far west from that. These are basically due west of Wisconsin.   Don't think you can miss them either.  :mocking:

Between them and Wisconsin I think it's mostly corn, soy, and cows.  Unless somethings changed since I went through there last Oct.  :scratch_one-s_head:

Yep lots of corn. thanks for all the ideas. Is there anything farther West we should see. I'm open to any and all suggestions.

I'm glad you are getting out for a change of scenery Dan. Instead of miles and miles of corn you will be enjoying miles and miles and miles of wheat fields. Also you will get to enjoy miles and miles of flat straight roads. Roads that are worse than Kansas if that is possible. At least that is what I remember from many years ago.

Hope you have a good time. Ride safer than me.

A pistol is like a parachute, if you need one and don't have one you will never need one again.

I'm from Alberta, so kind of the same area and I assume the same scenery. If you're into that sort of thing, I bet there's some nice hot springs or short hikes with nice views around the area. Looks like a little Northeast is a glacier park

A slight detour and you can go through Yellowstone National Park

Hey Dan.
I would suggest going through the badlands, Mount Rushmore and a meal in Deadwood in South Dakota. Swing by Devil's Tower, then ride highway 14 through the Bighorn mountains on your way to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. Take the Beartooth hwy Out of Yellowstone (I haven't taken this route yet, but Ron and Alan say it's amazing). From there take the quickest route to Kalispell. While you're in the area, take a ride up to Glacier National Park and ride the Going to the sun road.

Whatever route you decide to take, ride safely and enjoy the much needed break from work and house construction!

Thank you Derek. Didn't get together with the girlfriend and her son tonight. She said she wasn't feeling well. And was going to bed early. So definitely keep any ideas coming.
Thanks much

Dan,

I used to work summers in Missoula, MT and we would ride up to Kalispell during off time.  You will be just north of Flathead Lake. If you can rent a boat and get on the water.  Flathead Lake is beautiful and I think its about the size of Lake Tahoe only with FAR fewer houses and people...

Just north and east of Kalispell is Glacier National Park.  The main road through Glacier is Called the "Going to the Sun Road".  It is an amazing ride that you should do if you can - the beauty is off the charts....  Get an early start and take a day to hit Glacier if you can.

Cheers!
