Starter won´t come out

I wanted to use the time in this lockdown to remove the engine starter for an internal cleaning/check-up because it is starting to become weak (old 2 brush type I suppose)  but it will not come out.

I have removed the two mounting bolts and now I can wiggle the end of it slightly but I guess the rubber seal on the mounting flange is likely not willing to let go (this might be the first time it is removed).
I have of course also removed the power cable going to it and then tried prying at different angles while tying to rotate and pull it out but no!!  -it will not come out....

Does any of you have similar experience and how did you manage to get it out?  -any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. I have worked on stuck engine parts before as an General mechanic for 12 yrs and then as an Aircraft mechanic for 20 yrs but I don't have all my tools with me here in Norway where I work but live in Iceland......

On my 86 the O-ring seal was quite tight. Rocking it up and down while puling did the trick.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.
