When removing Valve guides do you drive them from the port side or spring end.

From the port side. Bead blast the carbon off of the guide, heat the head to around 250 degrees F and drive the guide(s) out. Use a 5.5mm guide drift. Make sure the head is properly supported with wooden blocks. Are replacing the guides with OEM iron pieces or bronze? No matter what you use you will have to ream or hone the guide bore to the correct ID. I recommend honing over reaming. You will also need a valve job as the valve centerline will have changed. I recommend a Serdi valve job.
