Quiz .... what will happen if you hang your helmet on right side mirror...

Here is a quiz... what will happen if you hang your helmet on the right side mirror on a fj 1200 then you jump on the bike start the engine put it in first gear release the clutch and roll on the throttle and at the same time you take a sharp left turn  to drive into a washing hall ?

I was going to wash the bike inside a washing hall but it was a car not finished washing inside so i parked the bike about 15 meters outside the hall tok the helmet off and walked to a machine that sells coins for the soap and hi pressure steam automat.Then when the car was finished and backed out i jumped on the bike to drive the 15 meters (uphill) into the hall but
that did not go well  :dash2:   :mocking:

Ooooh, I know this one! I know this one!

When you turn the bars to the left, the brake lever hits the helmet and applies the front brake! A LOT!

It's the slightly more embarrassing version of when you turn the bars to the left and your tank bag beeps the horn at all the Harley riders parked at Shady Valley. (I told them "Loud Horns Save Lives!" but I don't think that made me look any more awesome.)

Did you drop it on the left side, or on the right side, or just hurt yourself keeping it from falling over?

yepp you nailed it ! the front brake hit the helmet and frontwheel totally locked and the bike vent down fast on left side with a roar from engine and a minor burnout so fast i did not have a chance to pull in clutch or stabilize the bike i was lucky and only got minor damage to the bike.some bruising on the leg
It was a little embarrassing as there was some people looking the adrenalin kicked in and the bike was back on its wheel in about a second  :good:
so this is a warning dont do what i did.

well it ended good but just wanted to warn other so they dont do that silly thing . (popcorn)

I have a similar story! I was at the store once, and as I finished, and was getting on the bike to leave, a group of 5 or so VERY pretty ladies walked by me. I thought I was gonna be a badass, and start the bike hard. So I start it up, and rip the throttle to make it sound good. Right as the RPM's came back down, I heard.. my horn... going off... continuously. I had somehow developed a short in the horn switch, and it wouldn't stop going off. I sheepishly killed the bike, and disconnected the horn at the connectors.  Off I rode, much more embarrassed for the experience.

Good to know about not keeping the helmet on the mirror though!

Tuned forks

I often hang the helmet on a mirror while filling up with gasoline.  I will keep this experience in mind from now on.

Depends on how you hang it. I don't like hanging mine on the mirrors at all. The mirrors always get misadjusted when I do.

Hopefully it's all easily-repaired damage.

Remember when bikes had fork locks that were separate from the ignition locks? Talk about an opportunity for disaster! (And for learning the benefits of a pre-flight checklist.) My first real streetbike was a KZ-750 twin bought from a college housemate, and I once left a party by doing a mighty kick-start, pulling away from the curb, and discovering seconds later that I had left the forks locked. So, a full-on physical effort followed by explosive internal-combustion glory, like all good kick-starts feel - it's like ringing the bell on a Strongman carnival game except the bell-ring is replaced by the sound of your motorcycle coming to loud exciting sudden life, basically a two-wheel fireworks display with a spotlight on you.

And I let the clutch out and pulled smoothly away from the curb in front of a party full of people, a porch full of friends and friends-of-friends and a girl I kinda liked, and I rode a perfect feet-on-the-pegs all-technique U-turn, because I have had this bike for months now and I am just. that. good at riding it now. And when I stood the bike up at the end of this U-turn, the bars stayed locked full-left while I began to go straight. The wheels kept going left and I kept going straight, along with the bars and the seat - temporarily - until the bike whipped itself out from beneath me and the bars and seat played catch-up with the rest of the bike. So there I was, going straight but now without the benefit of having a motorcycle underneath me, while my motorcycle played crack-the-whip with its fairing and mirrors and smashed itself into the street in an explosion of plexiglass and fiberglass and mirrors and fuel tank and turn signals and headlight glass.

Even the slowest high-side ever, in first gear barely off idle, feels remarkably fast and violent. And as loud as the "NOTICE ME!" exhaust seemed to be on start-up, the sound of the bike smashing itself against the street seemed to match it, sounding exactly like every collision you've ever heard in the movies.

So I feel ya. A lot of us have been there, or really close to it.

On 1100 helmet tends to get stuck somewhere on the fairing (mirrors are mounted on the steering). Guess how I know it.  :rofl: Didn't fall, though. Luckily. But I did the horn thing on the tank bag and if you turn handle bars in the opposite direction you hit the starter button. This one got me scared once because it gets the oil light on, too and the bike was already running so no starter could be heard. Just that red evil terminator eye staring me from the meters....

HaHa thanks for a god laugh  :rofl2: I my later years of riding it has been very long between the embarrassing moments but in my early years ohboy i had alot of super embarrassing moments
one morning  i was riding for work and there was a busstop with many people and some  girls .I decided that i was going to wheelie  driving by them .I lost control the bike flipped backwards  right in front of them and the people on the busstop locked at me with dropped jaws  while i was picking up broken parts  from the bike in the street. :blush:
also had another bad wheelie moment that time i there was a T intersection at the end of the street and i was going way to fast i tryed to make the turn at the end of street but crashed, some peole came running to help but
before they reach me my adrenalin was pumping and i jumped on the bike and rode away. then some minutes later i look down at my leg and it was a hole straight thru it i dont know how i got it but the brake pedal was destroyed missing the piece you putting your toe on so i guess it had ben inside my leg :good2:
