Hello everyone. I'm about to replace the valve seals on my 85 Fj1100.  Will also be doing a top end overhaul.Piston #1 has a lot of carbon buildup compared to the rest. I suspect this is where im having valve seal issues. Here's a picture of the head. Is this normal or am i having burnt valves? There's no damage to the head or valves they just have a lot of carbon buildup. Thanks

Put a strong flashlight in the intake ports and exhaust ports, now in the dark, can you see light leaking in around the edges of the valves?

Usually I'm a oem guy, excepting valve seals. The Viton valve seals RPM sells are superior to oem seals.

How are the rings?  That looks more like this bike has been burning oil...  1 is bad, but there's quite a bit of carbon the others as well.

here's an update. I had them blasted. Valves are currently being polished. :morning2: (disregard the sparkplug. I was supposed to remove them but rather I took a pic first anyway)
