About 7 years ago I purchased an FJ1100 with a big bore kit/nitrous/re-geared/etc/etc... After 3 years and several trips I sold it because it was somewhat high strung (for what I used it for) and it tempted me to do illegal things! lol (ie: 155 on my way to work, not that I actually WOULD, of course!)...  So I went for 4 years without a decent sport-touring bike.  I mostly had UJM's (KZ650 etc) and a few scooters (and my custom KZ440 cafe bike, frame cut and welded by my own hands.. ok, by my own welder).  3 days ago I finally got my dream bike!  An almost-stock FJ1200 (1987), with just under 20k miles, brand new tires, and well tuned by my buddy Mark (who I bought the first FJ from as well!).  I have a Givi rack and monokey box (45 litre or so?), a tank bag, and nylon saddlebags (soon to be replaced with Givi plastic, I hope!).  The bike has new x-ring chain, sprockets, a UNI drop-in foam element, and some slight mods to the airbox (1" holes with mini filters in the holes), and 3 of the original fork braces stacked.  I have a Kerker system in a box that Mark is selling me, and I'm looking for a higher windshield (gustafson perhaps).
I have heard that the FJR 1300 diaphragm spring is a good upgrade for the clutch - any opinions?
Thanks,
Dave

it may be the same spring, just a cheaper price.

When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

Thanks!  I just heard the news re: the FJR spring from another person as well, so off to the Yamadealer...  I need new fibers as well. (And of course the bloody clutch cover gasket that WILL tear unless you have one on hand lol)!

There is also an aftermarket spring available to consider.

And yes, the bloody gasket tears like it's made from wet tissue paper if it's been in there awhile.   :dash2:

so off to the Yamadealer...

After you get your pricing from Yamaha let me know. I have all of the parts in stock that you are in need of. I would be interested in the order time and pricing from Yamaha.
