I could use right and left side under the seat hardware. Maybe someone has a trashed seat to pull from. Thanks Mike

TexasDave

I see seats for sale on Ebay for our bikes frequently. I personally would prefer an original in good condition over one that appears to have been recovered. Yamaha seats hold up well when stored with bikes inside but degrade outside in the UV light of the sun. Some of the ebay sellers show good pictures of the top of the seat and no pictures of the bottom. Others show top and bottom. With the sellers showing just the top of the seat there is a trend among some to remove all the latches and rubber pads from the seat pan with no mention of having done so. These are then offered as an additional items separate from the seat for an additional price.

Is it just me thinking this is a deplorable practice or maybe that's the way business is conducted today? I consider the seat and corresponding hardware one unit. What do you think?

A pistol is like a parachute, if you need one and don't have one you will never need one again.

I agree Dave. It is a reasonable expectation that a 'seat,' in the absence of any further description, would be a complete unit and I think with most sales that would be be the case.

Dave, if it's been re covered well, how would you know?

We have a bloke here in Aus, David Moore, who could re cover the seat and you'd never pick it from OEM. Who cares anyway, as for keeping the bikes original, FJ's have got to be the least rare classic out there.
You can't kill 'em, they just keep on turning up.

Hi Ryan,
Thanks man. I just need the two hook like goodies with spring that latch the seat down at rear end. I have two seats but just one set of these. Will save me from transferring these back and forth. Send me PM with address and I'l send you $20, if that sounds OK. Not a rush.
