Mario Atlanta

I have been riding mopeds and motorcycles since I was 10. I had a couple of lambrettas and my first real bike was a Bultaco Alpina 350cc in 1973 when I was 13 years old.  I still have that bike. When I came to the states back in the late seventies I had a 350 four Honda and later a 550 gs Suzuki. In 1981 when I went to bike week for the first time I saw Freddy Spencer raced a cb750f Honda and I fell in love with that bike. I purchased one in 1982 and I still have it. In the following years I didn't get anything new but I saw the fj1100 and I loved it. In the next 30 years I have accumulated 7 other bikes, a Ducati,   Xr650l , a triumph, an Ural, VFR700 but never forgot about the FJ. This year I found her. Only 13k miles one owner and in storage for the last 17 years. She was immaculate no scratches at all. My mechanic and I completely refreshed her and while I was getting her ready I became part of the fj group and learn about the Yamaha vintage rally at the dragon and i assisted.  I had the privilege to meet Fred Greenlee and rode with him.  That day we had 4-5 fj together.
I am happy to be a part of these group and if any of you are ever in the Atlanta area reach out for me and I will take you riding in the mountains.

G'day Mario.

Great photo and a sweet looking machine.

I'm sure Fred would have said 'is the petcock wired?'

Given collection of bikes you've kept, what ones didn't you keep?

Welcome to the Forum  :hi:

It was great to meet you back in September and I totally enjoyed the day, riding The Cherohala Skyway and The Tail of the Dragon with you. I will be there again next year for the Vintage Yamaha Rally. Hopefully I will see you there.

Here are a few photos that I took of Mario and his impressive Theft Deterrent White FJ. The last photo is ...

I live in Newnan. We need to ride in the spring.
I have been all over the north GA and NC hills. I had a cabin in Murphy for 4 years to hold my bikes. Great places to ride!
