I had posted my problem last year - to find a solution to a hesitation that takes place after 4k rpm-  Motor and bike were restored last spring, started and ran beautifully for a week, then on a ride on the 407 a miss or a hesitation started suddenly.  After I slowed down on side streets, under 4K rpm, it returns to normal and runs beautifully.   Some suggestions from my first post was connections and plug wires.  Nothing solved to date.   I'm wondering if the relay or starter switch should be looked at as part of the electrical system parts?
Thanks very much

Fuel line routed correctly?
A pinch can cause high rpm starvation symptoms.

My 84 has had a dead spot around the same RPM if the bike is given full throttle.  It has done this since the first day I owned it.  It feels kinda like the ignition is cutting out.  I have learned to ease through this RPM range - don't need to drag race on city streets anyway - and then the bike will run fine and accept full throttle all the way to redline.  I've replaced the ignition coils, had the carburetors rebuilt and re-jetted, adjusted the valves several times, installed a new cam chain tensioner, etc, and none of these things have made a difference.  Maybe this is just an 84 thing?
