So as requested by RPM I rechecked my timing and as I expected spot on.the engine was hunting at idle and would gradually increase its idle.so I took the opertunity to change the intake orings which solved the idle issue.tomorrow ill bump the timing a little.

Pat Conlon

If the idle increases as the engine warm up, try turning in (clockwise) your idle mixture screws 1/4 turn.

If Robert at RPM set up your carbs, you can bet the idle mixture screws are set even dead nuts between all 4 carbs, however some very slight fine tuning may be needed as your new engine breaks in.

Enjoy your FJ Mike! She is lucky to have you as her owner.

Thanks pat.well I bumper the timing and my idle issue is trying to come back.Idk if thier connected.timing advance may cause a lean condition.I hate to screw with randy work

Ive got new oem handle grips and cables ordered from rpm.I think its a cable issue.can't get here soon enough

Changing the O rings may have been incidental to removing and refitting the carbies in fixing the problem.

One common cause of rising idle as the motor warms, especially after having the carbs off, is adjusting too much slack out of the cables. With the RHS side cover off, push down on the linkage and see if the revs drop, if so the cable needs more slack. If you have adjusted all free play out of the twist grip, it is too tight.

Regardless of who set them up, bench synching and mixture adjustment should be re checked/adjusted once refitted to the bike.

I pulled the cable today and streched the carp out of it.reinstalled with a wd40 helper in study idle for the length of my ride.

That's not necessary, there's a threaded adjustment on carby bracket, although it does sound like it may have been the problem.
