Times are changing a little

I know a few of you have noticed that I have not been on the forum as much lately. As mentioned several other times over the years, RPM and my passion for the FJ along with the race cars that use the FJ power plant have always had to play second fiddle to my "day job".

Well at the beginning of March my day job changed a little. I no longer work the rotating schedule I have been working for the past twelve years. So, while the hours I work per week are similar, I am now on a fixed schedule. This is keeping me away from the shop for most of the given work week.

This is always something that has been in the vision of my future and one of the primary reasons I brought in Robert to the RPM fold. I have been, for the past year, stepping back and letting Robert handle more & more of the responsibility of running the day to day operation of RPM. He has been doing great and he makes me proud everyday.

I have now created a user name for Robert to handle the RPM replies. It will be, RPM - Robert

Robert will be here handling the day to day operations, responding to phone calls and emails. Just like always, if Robert is not sure he reaches out to me to ensure we are providing the right information every time.

Please rest assured, I am not going anywhere in reference to my continuing commitment to the FJ motorcycle. In fact I already miss not being here at the shop as much as I have been in the past.

I will still be responding to emails. But my time on the forum will be very limited during the week, so PM's are not the best way to reach me.

I have discussed these changes with the guys on the admin staff. Pat, Mark and Fred have renewed their commitment to the forum and addressing any forum related issues if they arise.

So, please continue to make the forum the best place for everything FJ related.

And more more thing I can assure you, no one has ever hacked the FJowners.com forum for political gain like they can & did with fakebook.

Thank you for your ongoing support of the FJ motorcycle, the FJowners.com forum and of RPM.

Good for you Randy, and good on you Robert.  It's not often anymore where something like this can be passed on to the next generation that is willing and able to take on the challenge.

Heres to a bright future  :drinks:

You all do a great job. I buy from you whenever I can.

Still on the fence about ordering an exhaust, but someday.....

Facebook is bigger than I thought it would be. If you don't have a page there, I could not easily find one, Robert or yourself might want to consider adding one.

Complimenting this site, and your web page, of course!

Keep up the great job!

Uh, correct me if I'm wrong - if they make a Facebook page, it is your option to participate or not ... wouldn't be a need to delete anything as long as you don't post anything?!

Looks like you'll have to sign-in and go to the Yamaha FJ1100 1200 and 1300 sport tourer - LATERAL FRAME CONCEPT - Facebook page and get to work on some deleting then, huh?  :rofl2:

Haha, good try Marty, but not quite. I was only endorsing Rick's resolve to never join.

I love FB. I don't use it much to interact with people and I don't post about myself, I use it to get a daily dose of all my favourite subjects, mechanical, industry, trends, technical, hobbies, interests, news, politics, motorbikes, cars, aviation, boats, history, archives, causes, humour etc. and flick through dozens of others. There are millions of subjects you can subscribe to.

As for privacy, I have a rule for everything internet based, don't put anything on it anywhere, no matter how deeply buried, that you're not prepared to have find it's way into the public domain, (like Marty taking a screenshot of my FB comments and putting it on here).

And Rick, rest assured, if RPM did start up a FB page your name and details would not be dragged kicking and screaming on to it against your will, that's not how it works, learn the internet Rick.

I'm interested to know why some folks feel so strongly about not being on it, as opposed to just choosing not to use it. Not being on FB these days is a bit like not having a mobile phone or the internet (IMO).

We have one. My youngest son Ryan set it up several years ago. I do not know the link or how to work it, but it is there.

Ryan tells me we get likes on the page regularly.
