A friend of mine is planning on taking a trip to Sydney and Melbourne.

He's pretty bike-crazy.  Any recommendations on what he might want to look into while he's there?

That would depend on whether he's hiring a bike here or not.

If so, two bucket list items unique to Melbourne are riding the Great Ocean Road (a regular entry in top 10 lists of worlds best motorcycle roads) and a Superbike School day at the famous Philip Island Grand Prix circuit (they supply bikes if you don't have one)
