Effie has shown me a wet plug today.

1985 FJ1100 Mr Effie 647,000K and still running hard.
1985 FJ1200 'Yummy' takes a licking & keeps on ticking

I've been chasing one of those too, #4.
It'd start and run but #4 wasn't firing, stone cold header, wet when taken out.
Dry it, put it back in then it fires!
It happened twice, both after bike was not used for a month   :sorry:

Still in the process of finding the problem, now that's another project.  :wacko2:
Let me know when you have an answer  :good:

Cheers Alan

Already know Al,

It is #2. Compression is down to 80.
#1 better but messy plug.
# 3 black, sooty but dry, 85 comp.
Didn't bother to check #4

Smells like a diesel.

I think I've gots me a top-end rebuild .

After so many years, and not being original owner, I think I give her a boob job.

Yummy is purring like a kitten & just begging for me to use her,not Effie

I had a similar problem except my cylinder would start working after engine got warm. It was a bad spark plug. Funny thing is, I still have the original NGKs that were put in in the factory and those are all still working, but the newer ones that I installed 2 years ago are malfunctioning.

Fred

I enjoyed reading that.

I learned a lot from what you did, and applied much of that to Yummy, except she is still in Ambulance livery
