I'm one step closer to getting her back out on the open road (been forced to ride the XJ600 on occasion to satisfy my mini-kookaloo) :bye2:

Good deal Alan. Wipe them down with a rag & solvent to get the mold release off the tread.
Be careful 'till you scrub 'em in....

Right Andy?

Alan, are you coming with us to the WCR?  We would hope to meet you.

+1 to be careful on the new tires.

Co-worker and her b-friend just went down other other day (2up).  No warning, good road conditions.. New rear tire, leaned into a corner, back end washed out and down they went.  Thankfully they were not going all that fast.

The rims look good .... But those tyres are angels are they not... Not heard good things about them yet would like to hear what you think..

I usually use a mixture of 50/50 water and "BlecheWhite" tire and whitewall cleaner to clean them really well prior to riding on new tires. I use a brush to get in all the tread where the release compounds like to hide and work their way out. This leaves a nice clean bare rubber surface.
I would love to come to the West Coast Rally this year. I really would, but my Wife and I are expecting our 2nd baby right around the 1st of July. And since our 1st child came 3 weeks early, I don't want to risk being at the Rally when She goes into Labor.
Unless there is a fall west coast one planned, I'll have to wait until next year........I really would like to meet all of you though. :hi:

The tires are Pirelli Angel St's
I have read some good reviews on other forums, but since they are fairly new, there isn't alot to go on.....Since they were designed as a "sport/touring" tire with Extended performance treadwear(according to manufacturer's claims) I thought I'd give them a try.
The price was in my range, and after seeing their "World Record" video,

Pirelli Angel Motorcycle Tyre - World Record, Nardò (Italy)

I decided to Go for it!
I'm not quite the person to ask when it comes to rating things like tire performance, and whatnot. I am sure their performance will exceed mine. :unknown:  Maybe after a couple thousand miles, I may have a well-informed review. :good:

Firehawk,

Nice looking rims.  You are going to love the Angels.  I had the Diablo Strada that the Angels replaced, and I have about 900 miles on the new Angels.  They are very responsive with a nice ride and great lean angles.  They are quick turning and give good feedback.  It took me about 700 miles to wear off the halo, but living in FL it will take some time to wear off the wings.  I ran over 10,000 miles on Diablo Strada, and am sure I will get the same, if not better, wear from the Angels.

Hope you have your big FJ on the road soon.

Later......
