So, my 93 is nearing running state.

I finished going through the carbs and put the m back on again. I couldn't resist giving it a test run. I don't have the airbox back on.

First, I got a little drip out of 3 and 4. Scared me there a bit. Then it dried up after running a couple of minutes and didn't come back. I think I'm good with the float levels.

The thing is, I had to keep the throttle open a bit for it to keep running. Is that normal with stock jetting and no filters?

Other than that, it seems to be running great. Smooth and responsive.

New filters will not have much restriction so it would be much like open carbs. The air box will add a little bit as the air pass through it. The exhaust has more influence on restriction. But I would not spend much time solving a problem till all the bits are in place.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

It could be the classic clogged pilot jets. Even with decent gas (not the shit we have in Kalifornia) they still will clog given enough time. If the air box is is still off, I'd pull the carbs and verify the pilots are clear.
