So after delays for life style changes and retirement I have managed to get my second FJ (naked kinda cafe) running. finally oil tight, and did a test  and tune last Friday evening. Mission Raceway. Best quarter 11.58 @121.68, pretty happy :wacko1: for first run. Plugs show light grey with 120 jets so going to order 122.5 from Randy.
Looking forward to WCR rally for some tips and advice.
FYI,
Stock engine and wheels
Supertrapp 4 to 1
Carb pods
Presently 120 jets
94 octone fuel
Sea level 12 degrees County

So the 122.5 jets gave a nice plug color and running so much better, nice. Last test and tune was rained out.
Now have track day Saturday, but just bought a ..... sorry.....  88 Honda VFR 400r for $1000 cdn ,  and so much easier to throw around will use this little beast instead.  Looking forward to the rally.

So track day was amazing in that we had sun and I did run newly acquired vfr 400.  After record rains March and April made me sceptical the sun still existed. Tech spec commented on the old dry tires,  and so did two other riders, took this and lowered tires pressure to 30 32. First session I followed a cautious rider and got my confidence in the bike and tires. After that I went 90 % and really had a great day.
I am in need of a service manual or even a owners manual, 88 vfr400r nc24.
Thanks

Yeah been awhile, lost my main computer  use. Update another FJ drag try was a wash with track closure. Last Mission track day my vfr400  had no brake lines... delayed shipping. So ran FJ and actually ran a good day, not as nimble on our short cicui, favours the 400, ran same laps but 25 k faster on straight stretch.
Then was given a 95 Honda cbr900, well needed work, helicoil 2 motor mount threads. Rear, front wheel bearings and steering. Just dealing with fuel leaks and intake boots. So new track day bike ... yahoo.
Then I got lucky finding a 2008 Scorpa SY250F French trials bike with Yamaha 4 stroke (5 valves) so now I have winter ride.
Life is good.
Petaluma looks good... see ya then

First question, what's the corrected elevation (DA) and what do you weigh?

Sorry about playing necrophilic on the thread but I hadn't seen it.

Back the octane off.  Run as low as  you can get away with!  Won't hurt ya and you'll pick up a few ponies.

If the bike is not lowered, lowering it by putting a strap on the forks and longer dogbones (aluminum scrap works to make them easily) will help.  You should be able to see 11 teens if not into the 10's if you can sort it out.  Launch by slamming the gas to WOT at the line, using the clutch to hold the RPM you're wanting (probably 5000rpm, give or take 10%).  The 60' really tells the tale on if you're riding well or not.

On a lowered FJ, weighing 205lbs before putting on leathers, I was able to run 10.90's in ungodly good air, but more typically 11.0-11.teens with it.  MPH through the 1320 ran in the 124-126 range.

This is why, after selling it, I have a ZX14 now.  It's scary, scary.  :)

Some good info thanks and will apply to CBR900 that has taken over the FJ race. First the 900 was free and just needed some tic, and the friend giving the 900 had his FJ1200  stolen and after recovery needed most parts from my race FJ. And i wanted that motor into my street FJ. So almost done his FJ and 900 just waiting one part and then may 19 track day. Will do a Friday  900 test and tune at our local quarter mile track soon as season opens... damn snow
