Happy New Year to you too, Jools. I have a good mate who's doing the suspension work for the Irish team so we'll be spending some time in the pits with him. You won't be very far away unless you Poms are still at war with the Irish. PM me your phone number and I'll ring you when we get to the track.
Sounds like you should organise a manshed day so we can get your FJ back together. Not kidding mate, if you want/need a hand, let me know and I'll be there. Beer is cheap!

Pete and Alf, would be great to catch up with you both but not sure about the ride. That is the Australia Day holiday and one of the busiest weekends on the road all year, as well as Police presence. Even the regular coppers down here won't mix with the Highway Patrol guys, they reckon they're arseholes, and the regular ones are bad enough when it comes to speeding, 4kph over and you're done, 30kph over and your bikes impounded, walking for 6 mths and about $1500 in fines and costs, there are NO exceptions.

It's the last long weekend of beach weather and Victorians traditionally head to the coast in droves. Did you have a ride in mind?

Either way, I will catch up with you.

G'day Noel, apparently there's been a change in plans for the ride. It looks like we're doing the ride on Monday instead. A good idea given the reasons that you've pointed out. Will definitely catch up with you somewhere. As far as I know, we are heading to the track on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If you have an idea in mind about a meeting place and/or time, let me know. Alf's brother is the chief organiser so I'm not quite up to speed with our schedule yet but I'm sure there will be some flexibility in our plans.
   See you soon. Regards, Pete.

Noel we used to have the Bike Races at Easter in Bathurst and on average we used to get about 3 speeding tickets each but penalties weren't as severe, also if you had friends in other states you ended up with a Victorian, Queensland and NSW drivers licence in your name, just needed an address in each and of course sit a test in each state.
Then it became 1

G'day Harv, it would be great to catch up with you. We are heading south via Yarram, which is about an hour south of Traralgon. Depending on how we're going for time, we may be able to meet you in the middle somewhere. I'll give you a call a bit closer to the date unless you have an alternate plan of attack.
   Regards, Pete.

Pete, understood mate...... I can not wander that far unfortunately - on fire bombing standby so must stay close to base.

Hope you are coming up to Esk for the rally?

Harvy, I'll have a talk with Alf and see what we can come up with. We may be able to take a slight detour in your direction. We both hate riding on major roads so we'll have a look at a map to find some back roads in your direction.

Just watch the Imlay road if you're heading towards cann river that way as there's a lot of loose gravel on repaired patches. Just rode it this morning and had a brown moment.

oldktmdude

Thanks for the heads up Dave. Been along that great bit of road plenty of times, the surface can vary greatly. It usually depends upon the log truck traffic using it. We'll probably run down the Prince's Hwy until Orbost then head across to Buchan and then turn off before Bruthen. The highway is not a bad run from Eden down to Orborst but gets a bit boring after that, not to mention the increase in speed detection arseholes.
Hope to catch up with you at the Rally.

Pete, I would rather ride the entire length of the Hume on a postie bike than come into Melb on the Princes Highway. It's the most soul destroying ride I can think of.

This is my standard route to the coast.

It starts off a bit boring around Maffra but at least the roads are empty then gets better and better. It also sweeps past Traralgon (Harvy)
It brings you in a little further up than your destination but is just an easy cruise down Eastlink to Frankston to finish the ride.

You do have to ride through a bit of suburbia when you hit Melb this way but it's all multi lane divided road and the ride is worth it.

Hi Pete
I'm considering a Manshed day - just trying to find out when the missus is away.......................
Chances are the motor will be done and in by the time that happens. UInless you fancy a weekend trip up !we can talk at PI next week.
Been flat out since I got back from the UK on the 7th getting the Bike Prepped for Phillip Island. I managed to finish the paintwork and got a clear coat on last night but the weather hasn't been helping me, but its as good as I can get under the circumstances. The tank needs another coat, hopefully tonight, if I can stop it blooming. )The retarder is helping.)
Still thinking of something..................
