About 4 years ago I started looking for a replacement helmet. I quickly moved on from the helmet I wanted to anything at all that would fit - nothing! My existing helmet was the only one in the country that would fit when I originally bought it and now sizes seem to have shrunk, the current version of it won't even go over my head.
Although everyone makes 3 & 4 and some even 5 XL, nothing over 2XL is available in Australia, nothing.

My local accessory shop told me at the weekend HJC had brought in a few 3 & 4 XL helmets, one model, one colour. He got one in for me and it fits like a glove but wouldn't want to be any smaller. It's great having a new helmet, even if it is gloss black, my old one was literally falling apart.



The shop tells me they turn people away weekly, unable to fit them. I imagine these out of luck customers have no choice but to buy untried helmets from overseas on the net which would no doubt lead to some very poor fitting helmets or even ones that can't be worn at all. It's wrong that the importers do not offer the full range of a safety item like helmets because they are slow moving in larger sizes.
The helmet is also lighter and quieter than the previous one which is good.

Things are not much better in the USA for big helmets, with the possible exception of the largest cities.  My local bike shops just laugh if I wander over toward the helmet section.  I ended up with a HJC, XXXXL which is somewhat snug, but okay.  I replaced the cheekpads with 5XL, which are thinner than the 4XL parts.  These new cheekpads were not very expensive, from Amazon, and make for a better fit to my head.  I found that Amazon had some 900 choices, so Search in Automotive, using the terms: HJC cheek pads, and your chosen size and helmet style.
