Damn.  306 =  190mph -even with an 'optimistic' spedo, that's fast.

No worries, if you were on the bike you'd never see it, or anything else.  :)

Yeah, Motorcyclist did a radar (or GPS -can't recall) test of my vintage GSXR750, and they showed it topping out actually at 176mph, while the speedo showed 189. What's that?  -a 10% variance?

Still, one has to wonder why anyone needs more than such a bike -for top end speed anyway -seriously!

i've broken triple digits only a handful of times. I'll crank it up to 'clean out the carbon', but once i hit 110-115, I drop back down to a reasonable 'do not pass go, go directly to jail' limit.

I know I'm not a super rider, better than some but just average really. Once in a while I will give the love handle a twist and head into the K zone. But after about a mile I slow down. A sport bike doing triple digits is a nice target for the police, a sport bike with a fat man on it doing triple digits is irresistible hahahaha.

John,

that is absolutely normal for an fj rider. you have to check that the bike is working correctly at all speeds.

I once had to explain this to a law enforcement officer to educate him about proper m/c operation.

He was quite amused and I escaped capture. That time.

When I first got my FJ I lived in S Fla. Bike night consisted of goofing off at the Fuddruckers for a while, then ride to Holiday Park to regroup for a ride through the Everglades. It was a fourteen mile road one turn, no cross roads. After the turn it was WFO the rest of the way. It was a good time I'd probably do it again if I had the chance.

Just don't hit a gator at full speed!

I frequently blast up to 110+ on the FJ, but only in very predictable locations and not for very long.  We have too many curves and deer around here for any extended speed runs.  About once a year I find somewhere to poke at 130.  Cruising at 80-90mph on good roads happens a lot.

I always worried about hitting a gator, but not enough to slow down. A friend did hit an armadillo, I ask him what he did, he said nothing, there wasn't time. It did make an interesting pattern on the bottom fairing and it wasn't much fun cleaning it up. :o
