Did I read somewhere about a company who takes the standard FJ 16 inch rear wheel and makes it into a 17 inch wheel. I would prefer to do it that way instead of a conversion of another model bike's wheel. Or was I just dreaming?

A Yamaha FZR600RR wheel is indistinguishable from an FJ wheel except it's 17" and wider.

If you want to stick with a Yamaha wheel...... Noel's suggestion is the best option.  :i_am_so_happy:

I can not understand the necessity of HAVING to use a Yamaha wheel. I personally have the GSXR750 conversion on my 1200. In the 3 years or so that I have used it....... Not a single person outside of the forum has pointed at the FJ and said..... Hey, that is a Suzuki wheel on there.  :flag_of_truce:

IMO the easiest and most economical way to put a 17x5.5 inch wheel on an FJ is the Suzuki mod. The 1990-1993 wheels look close enough to OEM that the general public never questions whether or not it is the correct wheel let alone if it is not a Yamaha part.

Well if you do it right they won't point and laugh at your Suzuki wheel... I was not so lucky, I seem to remember a rally rule about not conducting major work just before a rally. It also did not help that I also left my boots at home.  Well my first rally in 2011 will not be soon forgotten.

I kind of like the purple GSXR wheels. I considered leaving mine purple for, oh about 15 or 20 seconds.
Black spokes and polished rims won out.
