Skully out of business.

I've been checking in from time to time to see how Skully is coming along on their AR helmets.
A very cool concept. Excited preliminary test reviews.

Disappointed to see they are OOB. https://techcrunch.com/2016/08/06/skully-officially-admits-its-over/

I'm glad I never sent them any money. Over 3,000 folks who sent them $1,200 for deposits are SOL

A lawsuit filed claims that the Weller brothers (co-founders) misused the Crowdfunding and VC money.
They raised close to $15 million dollars.

The AR helmet is going to happen (eventually) but alas, it looks like it will have to come from China.

Yes.... and No....

At the bottom of the article it says:
QuoteHowever, there is somewhat of a silver lining for Skully's customers. Smart bike tool maker Fusar has offered a credit equivalent for the whole amount any Skully customer paid for their AR-1 helmet under what it is calling the Skully Owners Stimulus (SOS) program.

Skully customers won't be able to redeem the full amount at one time, but, says Fusar in an open letter on its website, they will have an opportunity to recoup the entire value of the original order over time and the company will only charge customers when their order actually ships.

A smart move by Fusar and uncharacteristically decent if you ask me in this day and age.  Already increased their web traffic as I just checked them out since I never heard of them.

I agree Paul, a very nice offer on Fusar's part. Makes me want to do business with them, just because.

Speaking of Fusar: I looked at their website and was interested in their "unlimited range" communication system. Unlimited range is quite a claim.
I went here : https://www.fusar.com/products/fusar-unlimited-range-comms-system  and saw that the bike to bike bluetooth range is only 15m/50ft.
I was wondering where the "unlimited range" comes from?

They don't explain this very well on their site for some reason.

Unlimited-range means that the bluetooth communication is only helmet to phone. They use the cellular network to communicate bike to bike.
