-- This a bit late but it still needed to be posted.

While vacationing in Canada ( seeing family and for a wedding ).   My family and I were doing the tourist thing and sight seeing in Niagara Falls -- I knew Capt Ron was on his cross country tour and also knew he was going to Canada and visiting the Toronto area but thats it.  We both live in California ( myself Socal -- and until recently so was Ron but now NorCal )

Well as luck or our kindered FJ spirits were with us --- I spotted the FJ as we were walking towards the main drag coming down the road and then looked at the jacket which I knew immediately was Capt Rons ( having just come from the WCR about 4 weeks prior) ....I was  not gazing the other way and looking at one of the most beautiful waterfalls of the world  -- To spot this I had to be looking at or close to the road.

Long story short - I yelled and got his attention and we stopped and chatted.... even the ticket man came by and we all chatted together ( as he was illegally parked but the officer didn't mind.

As I side note I also saw him the next day --- on the other side of the freeway we were on ----no chance of flagging him down there but it was cool to see him so far away from our natural habitat of California

Go figure the odds of that happening, even in a tourist trap like Niagara Falls. One blink the other way at the wrong time and it never happened.
I'm glad the cop was not a dick to either of you to spoil the mood.

Now...I have always heard that the Canadians were polite folk and my travels north of the U.S. Border have confirmed this in spades.  My visit with FJ Johnnie and crew was more of the same...amazing hospitality and always a kind and friendly smile!

Imagine my surprise when casually meandering along the Niagara River looking to maybe get some pictures of the world-famous falls that I was being yelled at by some Canadian walking on the sidewalk!!!  I was so stunned that I had to take a look!  There on the side of the road, grinning from ear to ear, was none other than the Moparman himself!!

I gestured that I'd u-turn and did just that...pulling over at the end of a bus stop to have a chat with my friend and FJ brethren, Steve!  What are the odds???  I was elated to catch up...meet many members of his family and swap a few stories about our travels!

Within a few minutes, a police officer walked up with the intent of writing me a ticket for being parked in a bus stop...not long into his approach, Steve had him fully involved in the happenstance meeting and the cop was starting to ask if the FJ was a bike he should consider buying!!

What a great run-in with a great FJer!!

All I can say is WOW.  :hi:

During your summer trip you surprised me by visiting my home town in the very far south east corner of South Carolina to do some sailing and then by happenstance, run into Steve at Niagara Falls.  :drinks:
