Found an 85 FJ1100 in a barn a few weeks back and it has been a temperamental princess much like my duck. I'm a hobbyist mechanic who does a side project here or there when I have the time and find a decent deal. Have some experience from over the years but I am no expert for sure. Here's to hoping you guys can help me out as I am beyond stumped at the moment. Haha

Spudman,

Yeah, I'm stumped too.    :dash2:    What symptoms are you dealing with?

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.

The carbs are in need of a very deep cleaning. If you just do a quick/simple clean then you will be chasing FJ gremlins.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

I agree. When I did my carbs I soaked the metal parts in the gallon can carb cleaner solution then after that I rinsed with carb spray compressed air then water. I then put them in a sonic washer with a vinegar solution. If they don't look brand new they ain't ready for a screw. I'll be the first one to tell anyone doing carbs, good God make sure you check your float height 3 times before you put that bowl on because it will haunt you later.

Well I posted over here: http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=15685.0. So far it runs on cylinder 2 and 3. It will fire on 1 and 4 if I squirt gas directly into the cylinder. At this point I have also discovered that I have the wrong petcock which is more than certainly causing some of the problem. Also it was suggested that it could be an issue with the left coil.
