OK.  I got an o-ring kit with 4 tiny o-rings that below on the idle mixtures screws.  But after looking at several carb diagrams in my 2 manuals I can't figure which screws those are.  I'm guessing they also go by another name?

They're the pilot air/fuel screws, that are on top of the carbs.

After you disassemble them from the carbs, you'll need to fashion a small hook out of a piece of wire, or paper clip to fish out the old o-rings and their respective small flat washer. Put the spring on the screw, then the washer, then the o-ring. A little dab of petroleum jelly on the o-ring and washer, helps hold them in place, while you carefully insert the four parts into each tapped receiving hole.

Ahhh.  Got it - thanks!  Now in reinstalling these, I screw them all the way down?  Just wondering if these are like pilot jets or something...

Good God no. You need to have them backed out a number of turns. Only seat them lightly first, not even snug, just until you can feel them seat.
Not sure what FJ model you have, but use one of your service manuals to look up how many turns out they need to be. Somewheres around 3 to 3.5 turns.

I have a the 93 ABS model.  My manual just indicates to count the turns up from bottom when removing them, so that's where I'll put them back to.

Merci!

FJ carbs are the same as XJ carbs - same series Mikuni.

Pilot screws adjust idle mixture. They are basically like mini-faucets.

Once I finish this work, the three of us should take a ride around the Twin Cities together.   :greeting:

Or beyond. I'm good to go for a ride when you're finished.
