This may sound trivial but the last 2 pieces I need according to the parts manual are called protector. It is the little plastic piece that mounts on the air scoops. I found a pair on Ebay that were NOS. They wanted $40 each plus shipping. I'm just not prepared to pay $100 for 2 small pieces of cosmetic plastic.

They are expensive no matter where you look.

Randy @RPM www.rpmracingca.com sells them new. A bit more than what you found on eBay.

Since you are in Germany, here is another option. http://www.fjcatalogue.com/body.html

There is a $25.00 annual membership fee for international members to be able to order parts.

Sometimes the simplest looking bits are the more rare or sought after. Mine had some scuffing, so I sanded the rough areas with some high grit sandpaper and buffed them very smooth. Then I used some Mother's brand polish for making faded plastic shiny again. That worked pretty well.

Alte Fahrt,

This is exactly the type of "project" that can be easily solved by local 3-D printing.  In the USA, even some public libraries have such printers, available to the public.  It is only a matter of "scanning" the needed parts into a computer file, then having the item "printed out" to your order.  If anybody here on the FJ forum can have the correct pieces scanned for you, they can email the file to you.  You can probably have it "printed out" by a local 3-D printer.  These parts are not the same, from my FJ to yours, so I can only offer this possibility.  I believe a 3-D printer can also make "mirror-image" copies, for both left and right sides.

I might even be tempted to cut heavy rubber matting (with ribs) to fit the recesses in the cowling, and simply glue them into place.  Few people would ever spot this "change" on a 28 year old bike.

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.

There was a period of time when these were unavailable regardless of cost and I couldn't stand looking at my bike without it.

I made this as a temporary fix and after a day or so, didn't even notice it anymore.

It is a piece of aluminium strap, cut to shape, edges smoothed/rounded, painted satin black and a strip of dense black foam tape around the edge to give it a similar height to the original.

It was a bit rough, but looked good enough that if I had taken my time and made it neat, I wouldn't have been fussed about getting the proper replacement.

When I did finally replace it, I did this to make sure I never lost another one.

A couple of velcro dots.
