Have you tried Big Tujunga Canyon rd. From Sunland to Angeles Forest Hwy, up to the 14 freeway? In the evenings during the week there usually is very little traffic and you can ride at whatever pace you like.

Fred
I'm not the fastest FJ rider, I am 'half-fast', the fastest slow guy....

You can get into a nice rhythm going up from Palm Desert to Vista Point.
We are fortunate to have Hwy 74 literally right out our driveway.
Hwy 74 to 371 to 79 and up to Julian for pie and coffee is living large. So, so many good roads up there.

It was 70* today, cool, clear and sunny in the desert.  Gorgeous

You bike looks great Cash!

Fred, you've spent too much time in KS .  You're thinking of Angeles Forest Hwy.  Of course you do take Big T to get to it ...
As far as traffic, it's now a commuter highway to parallel the 14 freeway.  Much after 3 pm the northbound traffic gets kinda thick, especially the Subaru/BMW wanna-be racer boys.  Pity, I understand there's fresh tarmac.  Still a fun road!!!
