Good Morning. I bought an '86 Fj1200 a few days ago and decided to join this forum. Everything seems to be in order with the bike except she's pouring out fuel from one of the hoses. I'm sure it's something simple like a stuck float or something, but I haven't had a chance to tear her apart... plus its damn cold. Anyhow this is my 3rd bike I own the other 2 being: 2010 Honda Sabre Vt1300 & 1976 Honda CB750F. Would love to meet up with the locals for a coffee. I ride in the VA, DC, MD & DE areas frequently.

If anyone is in my neck of the woods, I would appreciate some help in pulling the FJ apart (so I don't break anything) and resolve my carb issues. I think the rest of the bike is fine, but I haven't fired her up yet. Thanks in advance!

*EDIT: I added some photos per request. Also the FJ is stock from what I understand. She has #40 Pilot, #150 Air bleed, #112.5 Main. but I don't know if that is stock.

Welcome ! Nice collection there.  :good2:  I understand about it being to cold. The main jets are 110 or 112 or ??? if someone has changed them out during the past 30 years.  Randy at RPM has a great selection of carbs parts (and other FJ stuff) and is a member here. http://www.rpmracingca.com/products.asp?cat=39.  The flooding is probably a needle and seat valve or a suck float pretty easy to fix. There is an easier and more difficult way to pull the carbs. Let us know when you get ready to do it. As a note the needle and seat valve has a O ring around the outside of them that can fail also. Go to RPM's site and look at one. Randy has the O rings also. Lots of good information in the Files section and pictures in the Gallery.  :drinks:

Welcome 2Dirty, the Red & White/Silver are my favorite colors on the FJ. You are in good hands now with all your FJ issues, parts, trouble shooting, good rides, campfires with drinks and lies about the good old days.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Welcome to the forum  :hi:

Another bit of advice is to safety wire the fuel tank petcock. On the early 1200's the elbow that the fuel line connects to has been known to work it's way out and cause catastrophic damage.

Thanks, Fred. Seems like the PO put in a manual generic petcock. Seems to be holding fine.

Is it accessible? Can you get to it to shut it off?  That's important.

Thanks everyone. I got my bike running last week and all is well. The new float needles & seats fixed the leak. I ordered s fj1100 manual petcock so I'll be changing that when I get it. Then Rhine when warmed up makes s ticking sound at cyl #1. I guess it needs va Le job? Only 8500 miles

The ticking noise from #1 cylinder is a "unique" characteristic of the FJ engine.  I wondered the same thing when I bought my '92 back in '07.  After internetting around I found out (mostly from this site) that this was more or less normal. Some members who are more knowledgeable may chime in on this.  As far as I know, as long as the ticking isn't unusually loud, then it should be ok.  I had a valve clearance check done at the time and everything was fine.

BTW that CB750 looks awesome.
