Fuel tank clean out?

I need to have the fuel filter bracket re brazed or mig welded at the bottom of my fuel tank as it's been seeping fuel for quite some time.  Question: Is there a proper way to  wash my tank out so when I bring it to the weld shop it will be safe to work on. ??

Well, a lit match will make sure the flammables are out of the way... Just stand back when you drop it in....

Mine was washed out with hot water and Dawn dish soap, rinsed, then refilled with water before brazing.

Nobody was killed or nothin.

Sounds simple enough.  I think I was overthinking....

That would definitely take care of any residue and rust concerns!
