Been a while since I've been on here. Finally got my bike to Florida after sitting 8 months it did finally get running without too much problem. Of course the speedometer broke, choke cable broke and its idling too high with no adjustment on the idle screw to reduce it. Oh well! I am really concerned about the temperature of these bikes. They really seem to get hot and I have not ridden far trying to get it up to snuff. I can feel the heat on my ankles.
Normal?

Yep, the air cooled engines get hot. Are you wearing boots?
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

My 89 FJ never gets hot enough to cook my ankles.

My Yammy Venture, now that's a different story....I use the highway pegs a lot and it's not just to stretch out my legs!

Tell us more about the high idle which you can't turn down with the adjustment screw.

Could be a vacuum leak and, yes, your engine will run hot with a vacuum leak.
