How do I rotate my avatar pic?

Does anyone know how to rotate a pic? I like my avatar pic but would like to rotate it to its correct orientation. Thanks, Dale

Is that the normal orientation of the picture?  In other words, when you took the picture, was your camera turned on it's side to accommodate your desired composition.  If so, then take the original picture, and use a photo editor app, such as MS Paint and rotate the picture 90o.  Save it with a different file name (not absolutely necessary, but on some websites it facilitates a quicker change), and reupload it.

Hope the info helps.

Just for reference, I posted some pics recently that I took with my phone while on a road trip. The pics were right side up on the phone, but when I used the attachment feature of posting the pics, the pics were upside down. A 180 degrees off. After a few instances of this, I used the edit feature in my phone to turn one of those pictures upside down, deleted the initial attachment, then attached the pic that I had rotated upside down on my phone. The new attached pic still showed upside down in the post. I threw the towel in at that point. Not sure what is going on.

At least if you put your pics in the Gallery area, you can edit and rotate them there, so they show up correctly in posts where you embed them. However, that method is convoluted, and I believe the pics when placed in the Gallery are then "branded" with a FJowners.com logo. Does the latter mean they have ownership of the pics? I don't know that either.

Dale,

PM the original picture to me (not the avatar), and I will give it a shot for you.

If you want a decent photo editor, the Gimp is what I use.  It's free to download:
http://www.gimp.org/downloads/

If you want some help with the photo work instead, include your phone number, and I can talk you through it.  The Gimp is easy, and capable of a lot.

Hi red,
Thank you for the generous offer but I'm not sure how to send a PM. I'm new to the forum and am still trying to figure out some things about it. Thanks again, Dale

Dale,

Once you have logged on here, at the top of this page, click the round button that says "PM."  On the screen that comes up, there is a box on the left marked "Messages."  Click the "Inbox" line to see PMs coming to you.  Click the "Outbox" line to see the PMs that you have sent out.  Click on any PM listed there, that you want to read.  I just sent you a PM, so let me know if you got it.

Cheers,
Red

For future reference, simply viewing the pics on your local windows machine, via windows explorer (window+'e') will show you the pics in thumbnail mode.  You may need to adjust the view to thumbnails (small or large icons) on the top right of the screen.

Once you're looking at the pics, you can select one or multiple pics (holding down the shift [range] or control [individual select] keys while clicking) you can then right click on the selection(s) and simply choose 'rotate clockwise' or 'rotate counterclockwise'  if it's upside down, you'll need to do it twice...

You can't do video this way, but it works a treat for pics.
