I have an 85' Yamaha fj600 and the carbs are missing some parts for the fuel mixture screw. and i cant seem to find much on it. I'm looking for the washers and O-rings for them or at least part numbers for these pieces. Any help would be greatly appreciated as i'm coming up with almost nothing.

The carbs may share the same parts as our 1100/1200 engines. Give Randy a call, he is a Yamaha dealer and is very helpful to us in the FJ world...

Whats the Difference between the Fj's and the XJ's?  And are there any differences on the top end of a Mikuni BS36/ CV Carb that Yamaha and Suzuki Uses?

FJ600 was XJ600 outside US. It shares very little aside from styling with the FJ1200. Where the 1200 has a perimeter frame, the 600 has a conventional backbone frame, like the rest of the XJ series. It's closest relatives are XJ550 and Seca II. The motor is essentially the same design, but smaller. Mikuni BS series carbs of the same size are generally the same on different bikes, but can have different jets and needles.

In their infinite wisdom Yamaha did not list the pilot screw as a separate part for the FJ600. Even when they do list them, it's not separate parts, but "pilot screw kit".  Mikuni carbs, if I remember right, can have two different kinds of pilot screws, the difference being the thread. One type is coarse thread, the other is fine thread. The pilot screw washers, springs, and o-rings most likely interchange with the other Mikuni BS series carbs, and so the ones Randy has should work.

I'm gonna be the guinea pig here.

I tried taking out the pilot screws out of the FJ600 rack and found one royally boogered up from the factory. I'm in the process of destructive removal.

I just ordered a set of new screws from Randy. They look right. Once I get them, I will measure them against the OE FJ600 screws and post the results. With any luck, I'll be letting Randy know to change the listing...

Randy's pilot screws for the 1200 carbs fit the 600 carbs without issue. Buy with confidence.
