peoples opinions on 4-1

hi everyone curiosity is trying to get the better of me. I am toying with the idea of maybe going to 4 into 1 system I love the look and sound 2-1 just after opinions and was wondering if the xjr1300 4-1 system would fit as trying to find a 4-1 for the fj is not easy.

Also I have seen a picture of chopped down rear end making a single seater I have had good search but cant find it, has anyone done a write up on doing the chop.

I have the RPM system on my '89 and really like it. Supper light weight, sounds awesome, easy to remove and install. That said, there are other systems out there and they sound better than the stock system. Is it just sound you are looking to change? I have have had Suppertrapp slip-ons that sounded nice, not too loud. My '89 came with some slip-ons that have no name on them but they sound like performance. So you do have options. What part of the world are you in?

Anyone know what brand/model this pipe is?

A very nice system a little out of my price range and that's before shipping to uk. Plus im feeling more of a custom link pipe and possibly can route. has anyone got a video of the rpm system mainly for the sound?

Im just a tinkerer cant help it I might try it and may not be happy with it and go back to the scorpion race cans I got on there at the moment. but if I don't try it it'll bug me till I do or the next big idea comes along

To answer the OP's question: The 4 into 1 header has superior top end scavenging (efficiency) but only if you are tuned for it. The secret is in the tuning.
The trade off on the 4 into 1 is limited or no access to the oil drain plug, although the work around for that is, with the bike on it's side stand, removing the lower left side oil cooler line for crankcase draining.

Beware the Vance and Hines systems. Several folks have commented that the quality of workmanship leaves a lot to be desired.

I think for street riding, the RPM 4 into 2 into 1 header is the best solution. It is a very, very nice piece of work. Top quality.

I can attest to this comment from Pat. I picked up my '89 last year and it had a Vance and Hines 4 into 1 and can. The metal is thin-walled, especially when compared to stock, suffered serious corrosion issues, plus even with a good repack, the sound was harsh enough that I started the process of going back to the stock 4 into 2 system.
