Not exactly the answer you are asking but I have heard good things about Copilot... http://copilotgps.com/us/navigation/?referrer=gads&gclid=CM651L2KosYCFdgHgQodLE4AAw

The maps and location info are pre-loaded so it only uses the GPS part of your phone, no roaming... Hope it helps....

Capn Ron used it on his epic trip http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=10252.0

Thanks for the nod to the trip, Mark...  I did use the CoPilot app on my iPhone 4 through 26 states and nine Canadian provinces...I only made TWO wrong turns in 17,286 miles...and that's only because I was so lost in the scenery I forgot to look at the screen!

That being said, I've been using CoPilot on a laptop since around 1997...then on two Windows phones I've had...and now have it on the iPhone.  It rocks.  ZERO data use in any country as all the road data is canned in the phone itself.  I could go on and on about how well it works for dragging routes every morning of a trip...or how you can find about any point of interest to navigate to or through...heck, you can even navigate to a PICTURE you have on your iPhone!  Took a shot of the Stonehenge replica in Maryhill, Oregon...Click...it'll route you to it.

Effin good stuff.   :good2:

+1 on Copilot. After seeing how well Ron uses Copilot, I got it for my Iphone as well. We use it on road trips now instead of my wife's Tomtom. It works very well. It took us the 6000 or so Km to South Dakota for the Black Hills Rally without a hitch.

I haven't used it with my Uclear headset or mounted the phone to the bike yet. Hoping to get to that this summer.
