Yes, I still have my Harley (Rat Pig). Just can't bring myself to get rid of it. Original owner and all...

Took it for a stroll tonight, as it's been sitting, neglected, under a cover.

Totally different ride than the FJ. (Really? ? ?) My kidneys are still feeling each and every blemish in the road. Something about that Softail rear suspension. Hardtail look with semi-hardtail comfort. I used to wonder why all the European riders insisted on wearing kidney belts. Now I know!

Gotta luv me some FJ. It's nice to know that there's a difference. Lemmings be damned!

Can't help but think of "Brad" when I'm riding the Pig, though.

Ciao!

When I go on long rides, I wear a Kidney/Back-Belt, mostly to help support my lower back.
I think it has more to do with riding position, than suspension compliance. When I come home, I'm not as sore.  :good:

I think getting out to ride is the key. It doesn't really matter what you ride.
Most of us bag on Harleys, cause it's not our lifestyle.
If you wanna pull the old pig out of the shed and take it for a ride, good for you!  :good:

I have a pile of parts that used to be an old British Twin.
I'm hoping to be able to someday resurrect it into a rideable machine.

Good for you Steve. Harley's are not my thing but two wheels are better than four. For me it's not the bikes as much as the rider. There is an attitude that HD and BMW riders have that I don't like more than anything. No attitude, no problem. When someone riding brand X says "maybe some day you get a REAL motorcycle".

I like them all but I do find that when I have been on a Harley its more like Driving a Harley -- I tend to drive straight and not try to avoid stuff that I would move around when on the FJ -- more like cruizin'

its a good to change it up once in a while

I've flirted with fate once or twice when I replied less than courteously to the 'real motorcycle' bs. I happen to enjoy all types of 2 wheels. I rented Harleys a couple of times on extended business trips and thoroughly enjoyed a more relaxed riding style. Not enough to get serious about one but ridden within their limits they were a good time.

I've had the Norton for 28+ years, the Duc going on 16 and the FJ sure looks like a keeper. Ride that Harley for as long it brings the smiles.

It's always good to have a couple of different rides. It lets you more appreciate the different aspects of the ride that you begin to not notice after awhile. I remember the first few weeks of owning my FJ. My thought was that even if it only held up for a month, it was well worth the $1700 I paid for it, just in the OMG factor when I popped the throttle. After riding it for a few years, that initial rush doesn't happen often, but when I change over and ride my 250cc scooter for a few days in a row, the smile comes back fast when I ease into the Corbin saddle and press the starter, and feel the revs come up on the FJ. (Of course, it works the other way, too, when I hop on the 250 and get to stretch my legs way out and become shiftless..) Whatever you ride, enjoy it...
