Remember this moment...You are witnessing history.

Absolutely smoked the competition at 9:07.22

History was made today. It's the beginning of the end for ICE in closed course racing.

Wait and see.

And that's not even the full story.....................

He did get the overall win, with the quickest time of the day.
However, about a third of the way into his run, a computer issue shut down the rear motor-pack, making it essentially a front-wheel drive car for the other two-thirds of the run.

He also said that for race-day, they dial back the power to about 70% so that they can make a full run up the mountain on a full charge, without overheating.
The car is capable of running alot quicker than it did.

It was a little disappointing day for me.
I did get to see about half of the competitors run up the mountain, before the lightning and hail came.
They decided to shorten the course, and put the finish line at Glen Cove (about 3 miles lower down the mountain) So those of us up at Devil's Playground didn't get to see the rest of the competitors.

Here's a picture of the hail/snow we got.

Here's a Youtube video of Rhys Millen's run yesterday.

Just to be clear, the current overall record still stands at 8:13, set by Sebstien Loeb and Peugeot 2 years ago.

Very nice. Can't get over the strange weather. 110 here. The car is fantastic. Wonder what it will do in the future when they pull all the stops out. Wish the race had better TV coverage.

They claim they will have the car back next year with all the bugs worked out. We'll have to wait till then to find out.

Next year is the 100th anniversary of the event. They are planning some big things they say. During an interview with the organizer, he said that they plan to put the event in front of 2 million people next year. They are most likely working out the details on a televised event. :unknown:
