On 3/28/15 a few of the FJ guys got together at RPM Randy's shop and headed out for a ride east into the hills.
The following were in attendance: Myself ,Craig, Randy and son Robert,Kerry , Frank, Mike R., Rick, Kevin and son , Monkey Mark and Capn Ron.

Frank was riding his newly acquired FJ1100 and Randy took the lead to get us out of town and into the hills . Mild traffic kept us at a reasonable pace and I was sure Frank's bike was burning oil until we discovered it was Another rider (to remain anonymous) who had forgotten to put the oil filler cap on his engine. We proceeded to up the pace as the road opened up and headed for the first checkpoint/regroup area. Nice winding road with great sweepers and the pack stretched out as we let the horses run.

Sadly by the first checkpoint we were informed of a FJ down and trailer in route . Robert had taken a spill and was attended to by Mike R. and Randy.
We were ordered to carry on with the ride plan and stopped for lunch at a nice Mexican restaurant and ate our fill. we then proceeded on the 49 towards the little dragon . Craig took the lead and soon we were off like a shot ..... This is where it got goofed up . The fast guys stopped for gas 40 miles later and we waited for the rest to catch up and they never did. So Myself ,Craig,Frank,Rick waited until we saw an ambulance going the way we had just rode from and we thought someone had took a spill so we retraced the road and never found the other riders on it . After making back to the last checkpoint I called capn Ron and found out they had taken a turn we did not and were all ok and heading back to RPM to check on Robert and his bike.

At this point I left the group and headed home on the 49 back to Sacramento with virtually no traffic on the way back . It was unbelievable that on a Saturday afternoon there was only 5 cars I passed on the way back while I was traveling at warp speed.  A friendly Harley rider traveling opposite direction even tapped the top of his helmet to warn me of a speed trap I was rushing into in time for me to cool my jets.

As for the rest of the group I learned they hung around Randy's shop for a while before departing home.  It was a good day for most and great to meet new members Rick, Kevin and son(sorry cant remember his name).

The following are pictures of the event.

Looked like a beautiful day. Hope Randy's son is OK. Great looking bunch of bikes and riders. Wish I was there. Thanks for the pictures.  Dave

Looks like a great ride -- Mark is your post a pic of your new ride?   My detective in my says it is --- I think the white wheels give it away ..... and the seat... and the rear trunk..me thinks that's all that got transplanted? .  Confirm though as I may be wrong.

I moved all the good bits over to the '89, ironic as it is, most of it was '89 stuff (forks and swing arm). I may spray some gold over the white next time I change the tires to look less junkyard. I still have some work to do, need to paint and install the rear hugger, back to black I think. Gold dots would look more fitting as well. I have the Corbin seat that came with it, but the one off my '86 has been raised an inch for longer rides. I will get some miles on both seats before I decide on upgrading the other Corbin. Good detective...

And why wasn't I a part of this outstanding group? ....Oh right, I live 1800 miles away,,,,SHIT!

Nice to see you all riding, I hope the unexpected "get-off" of Randys son turned out without too much injury or damage!

Is it June YET?

Good point Pat, the 18th/19th is good for me. I can get a ride in on the 11th, then take the forks and headers off on the 12th.

Such a good run, albeit dampened by the early exit of our hosts. Robert looked in good repair when he got back from the garage, so hopefully he will heal quickly and return to form.

It was a great day guys and we will have to do it again before the WCR .

I got the FJ tore apart and ready for a trans upgrade tomorrow at Randy's.

After I reassemble it I will put out the call for a group ride.  Kookaloo  :wacko3:
