Plastic swap question

Has anyone swapped late model plastics from a 91-93 onto a 1990? Am I right in thinking that all I will need to change will be the headlight, headlight bracket, fairing and inner fairing panels? I think I have found a very nice set of blue and silver plastics locally, I just need to go see if they are really as clean as they are described.
I kind of like the fact that they are a little wider than the 1990 fairing as well.

Hi,
The 3cv and 3xw frames are different....you will have to fab up the mounting points for the 3xw fairing bracket and also probably all other mounting points....

Jeff,
Thanks for the verification of the difference in the frames. If I get the plastics and decide not to adapt the mounting points I can still put the plastics up for sale here. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Joe,
I thought about that very thing, but once you have bikes of both vintages side-by-side, you can see that it would be a whole lot of work. Sounds feasible in concept, just not really practical.

Hey Joe,

A good set of skins is hard to come by so they will always have value to someone.  A bit of forewarning though...  The big front cowling is just that...BIG.  If you intend on re-selling it, figure that you'll either have to fabricate your own custom box for it (or pay FedEx $50 to make one for you) and another $50 to ship it.  :shok: That extra $100 was an eye opener when I had a spare cowling shipped to me.

Ron,
I appreciate that reminder about the shipping cost. I've see main cowls on eBay with shipping charges higher than the buy it now price. :wacko3:

Mmmmm, blue/silver plastics, I love 'em,  :wacko3:

I got some sidecovers, scoops and tailpiece shipped to me from the US recently for my project bike. Cost around $500.00, but you cannot find them for love or money here in Oz.
