Any recommendations on where to stay cheap and ground level.

Capn Ron

Ummm...in what part of the country?  Are you talking about tenting?

Ron, based on where this post is located, I assume Jeremie is talking about the ECSR held in Boone, North Carolina.

Jeremie, check with the Boone KOA on tent sites although, be forewarned, expect and plan for, rain.
Tent camping in the rain sucks. Riding in the rain sucks.

Ahhh...completely overlooked that Pat.

I've tented in the rain and yep...it sucks.  In a grassy spot it's not as bad or in some of the campgrounds, they will have gravel beds to set your tent up in to allow drainage.  One campsite in Moab, UT even has a hard roof at each site to pitch your tent UNDER.  Very cool...especially when it snows.   :good2:

Sorry, yhea going to the east coast rally in Boone. Lookin for cheap motel minus bugs and ignore the ground level part, if they had a face palm emote Id use it.

There are likely still cabins at the KOA, but you need to tell them that you are with the FJ group as they tend to reserve all the cabins for the rally.

If you really need to hotel it there are several chain hotels nearby. Personally I have only used one of them but it compared well to the hotels I use traveling for work and is only 5 minutes from the campground

Ahhh sounds expensive. I'm pretty broke most of the time so cheap will have to do.

The Boone KOA does have tent sites with covers.....you would just have to move the picnic table out from under it.

ADHD,

due to boone being both a college town and a ski resort town, it's a decent-sized cute little town with quite a few hotel options to choose from, iff'n you're not interested in tenting at the koa or snatching up a kabin (which typically only has a bunk with unsheeted mattress pad, portable heater, and access to very nice showers and bathroom.  based on my experiences, i would always stay at the boone koa, as it is a great location for after-ride evening fireside stuff.

Just tent camp at the KOA on Boone, you wont be alone several of us tent camp there. Bring a tarp and warm clothes you will be fine.  Rally's are more about the time your not riding together.
