hi again, want to identify these forks before i commit to the rebuild;
this pair of forks were sent to me with the bike when i bought it, the PO had planned on doing the wheel and front end upgrade
i was under the impression that these are '92 forks
but, as you can see they have some differences:

1)the finish is different, these have a clear coat over brushed metal, my '92 the lowers are painted

2)the casting on the lowers is a bit different at the drain screw-see pics

3) the fork caps are different - the '92 the cap protrudes from the tube, pair in question- caps are recessed

again, your help is greatly appreciated!

They're a pair of the `89-`90 model forks.

Should fit and work the same.

In the last photo, the fork that you have in your hand looks like my adjustment nut on my '89.

It appears to me that you have a set of '89/'90 forks. No worries, they will work just as well as what is currently installed on your '92.

The chrome fork legs are the same for all years of FJ's.

Yes those forks will work , actually the best FJ forks for adjust ability and strength .
you will notice your 86 upper tubes have a recessed area on them where the 89-90 do not .

As for the wheel you have bought, check this site for a similar post about what they did about the axle and speedo drive .
I recall some have bored out the forks for the larger axle and some used bushings to retain the stock 89-90 axle.
On the 86 the axle has a nut on the end but on the latter models the axle screws into the fork.

On the subject of your brake rotors you bought from EBC , Ask if you can exchange them for some pro-lites for a 90 FJ. In my search for better brakes I ended up where you are with a set of 320mm fzr1000 and the endless things needed to make it work made it impractical for me. I bought some EBC pro-lites and have been very pleased with the results.
