hi all just done the 17 wheel conversion and made some shorter dogbones removed the shock to find that its kinda past its sell by date.
Unfortunately ive already killed 90% of me budget already in parts for the old girl. so my question is, is there any budget shock options for a 3cv which are better than stock. im not fused about doing any modifications to get the shock to fit. im 168lbs and on a very rre occasion go twos up and always travel light. It should only before at the most a year till i can gather funds to buy a penske or rpm shock. so any suggestions would be helpful.
cheers simon

If you use the search function you will find many options with various costs to get them to work. Where you are in the world might help, someone may have an old OEM shock for the cost of shipping. You could have my old '86 shock for the cost of shipping. It still works, more like a pogo stick as the damping is a bit weak.  :shok:
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

There is an inexpensive option with a small amount of modification.

Follow the link and read through it to the Posts from me on what I did for the '89 3cv.

Here is another approach. Scan down to around the 9th post.  PM "CountryJoe" for more info.  RPM probably has the best shock but $$$$.

Life isn't about having the best, but about making the best of what you have...

I have the BMW K1200RS shock that I shortened available for sale, minus the hydraulic preload adjuster. It's probably not worth much without it. :pardon: The Goldwing shock still works very well for me.
