Hi folks

A quick hello from me, here in Lancs, UK. Top forum, looking forward to contributing.

I'm a long time biker currently on my third FJ, a 3XW - just keep coming back to them, can't beat the combination of value for money, ease of service and performance.

I'll try to post a pic of my pride and joy....

DonkeyDaddy,
Don't worry `bout the Monkey. He has a SEVERE case of late-model-envy. (You wouldn't believe the trouble he's going through to turn an `86 into a `90!)

Thanks for the warm welcome folks.

Charley, the handguards are modded FJR1300 ones from the FJ Owners Club. Just got away with the clearances because the bars are raised with an LSL kit.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I'm from the other side of the Pennines (Teesside). I like your handguard mod (as do others it would seem). More details would be very much appreciated as we need all the help possible with the colder temperatures up north as you know!  :good2:

thanks folks, good to meet you all.

Bit of interest in the handguards so here's another pic - slightly less impressive close up, I suspect, looking a bit heath-robinson.

The bars are Renthal high bars fitted to an LSL kit on the top yoke. The pullback is great but does tend to leave your hands out in the airflow, hence the guards. They are FJR1300 guards which the FJ Owners Club sell, simply dremelled to fit. Some cutting down needed at the mounting bolt end, but most of the work was at the bar end where the guard has to be shaped to fit over the bar end weight. To secure things I riveted on a small bracket and use a zip tie. Clearance with the fairing isn't an issue, fortunately. Had them on for a couple of years now, sometimes I think they look a bit bobbins but then I remember that my hands are warm so am more forgiving.

The guards are made of soft plastic and are easy to work with, and with a bit more thought and skill I'm sure someone on the forum could make a more professional job of the fitting.
