Has anybody tried a set of hi rise clip ons. It seems like a good alternative to risers with the advantage of being adjustable on 4 axis - or am I missing something

Where did you see these? I've seen the German ones very nice but they want almost $500. I was going to have copies made but if these have a good price and come in 50mm. I'll just buy these.

they look good stua, will you have them on by the manshed day??    i know with the rpm risers its as far as you can go with the standard lines.

but having said that ,sometime this year im going to fit braided lines.

Haven't bought them yet Ken, still thinking about it. I do like the adjustability, should be able to get the perfect position as even a cm each way can make a huge difference. They also have slip on pipes to fit XJR's which might be adapted to fit the FJ

They look good. I see they are available also in 41mm. You might have to thread for bar end weights.

Just what I was looking for - I needed a 43mm pair  but they only have silver but beggars can't be choosers.

Shipping was $31 by EMS to NSW address.

The Dan Moto riser bars arrived within a week of ordering. Pretty impressive given the adjustable dog bones cost double in freight and are still not here after 2 weeks.
Being an EMS delivery, I suspect the Dan Moto bars are from Asia, backed up by the use of shallow cap head screws, which all of my Chinese/HK sourced clip-ons have had.
Overall quality & finish is very good. Packaging was carried out well &  was secure too



The bars comprise of 3 parts: Fork Clamp, Riser Clamp, Bar Assembly



The Bars are solid alloy and screw into their respective clamp. One of my bars was loose and I applied Loctite before tightening up. They are also 0.35mm smaller in diameter which caused some issues with clamping of the clutch and brake master cylinders.
Ideally the will need a shave off the actual fitting clamps but for now I used a couple of turns of insulation tape. This also applied to the switch gear. The throttle tube clamps didn't seem to be affected.



There are no holes for indexing the switch gear or throttle so some care is required in marking and drilling for these and being a sold bar, a 2mm pilot hole is a good recommendation.

Assembly is straightforward. I imagine it would be fiddly if they were put together loosely before fitting. I started by fitting the fork clamp using the existing bars to work out a satisfactory angle, same with the riser clamp that was the next to go on. There are no angle indexing marks so I had to take a reference on the fork clamp so I could get both Left and Right hand assemblies somewhere similar.



Finally the bar is fitted at an acceptable angle. All screws were nipped up and the clearance checked with full lock on each side and any small adjustments made as required.

When I was happy I tightened everything up ready to go. You will note that these are alloy coloured as they are the only option for 43mm forks I have fitted. 41mm types for the Std FJ forks are available in black too.
The fork clamp was fitted flush with the top of the fork. These are thinner than stock clamps and this will allow me to drop the R6 forks through the triple clamps another 10 – 15mm if necessary as the forks are slightly shorter than stock FJ.



Until I can ride the bike (waiting for the adjustable dog bones to fit the Thunderace rear end mod) I can't comment on position, but with this set up they are closer to the rider than stock and about 20mm higher with similar angle. All of these parameters are adjustable.

They are a bit reminiscent of the old Jota bars everyone used to fit in the 70's

^^ Those Dan Moto clip-ons look like good. 20mm of rise is nice for more comfort. Being solid bar stock, they should damp out the vibes through them decently. But you also own a later model FJ with rubber engine mounts, so you're going to see less vibes through the bars than earlier FJs regardless.

Ya know , if you get tired of waiting for the bones grab some strap steel and drill holes in it and go ride.

I had thought of that Mark

apparently they will be delivered tomorrow - BUT I have a doctors appointment in the city in the morning and then fly out to Melbourne for the International Challenge races at Phillip Island early afternoon, so there is little chance of me fitting them till I get back next Tuesday !

I don't have any suitable steel to hand otherwise I would have made some up. I could use 10mm alloy plate I guess, and Lust Racing could make me some fixed length but they are in the UK and would take minimum of 7 days to arrive none of which helps. I like the idea of the adjustable type as I can play with the height.
