Hey everyone, just checking out all the nice FJ's on the site. Got my '86 1200 about a year ago and been trying to get some info on parts and mod,s. Gonna need a set of mirrors soon as mine are sending rust down the stems, also gonna need a lower fairing since it's starting to crack from the heat I guess. Hope to see some of you in Florida.

Welcome.
Not to be discouraging about your search for a lower fairing and mirrors, you may discover like a lot of us that fixing cracks etc is way more cost effective when you see how much mirrors and fairings are.  You can usually fins someone that knows how to weld plastic and you can always figure out how to make mirrors good as new.
If you have a specific question about making the above things happen don't hesitate to ask.  Just remember that fixed/modified is usually more realistic than replacement for THIS bike.

You got the best year by the way.  :bomb:

JimmyD, I am looking for 05 CBR1000 mirrors, Simi_Ed put them on his bike, the faring mount looks very close the our 86' mounts. His mirrors look good and show slightly less elbow. Remove the Honda mounts from the mirror stem, grind a little off of the FJ mount and poof! :yahoo:

If you get a chance to check it it out let me know. We love all kinds of MOD updates.

I am need of a lower cowl as well. I think the crack is from heat and a leaking salve, the DOT 3 is not good for ABS. Fiberglass copies show up on Fleabay from time to time.

Welcome dude.

Yeah, I'm with Jason, 86s are the best model and ridden by hero types of which legend is written. Coincidently mine is an 86, although I've just finished some fettling, so it may well feel more like a 2006. Who knows - it's raining here and things remain un-tested. Welcome and enjoy the forum.
