Nothing you do surprises me anymore Douglas. I will try and track down a 79 poster and see if you can get it autographed for me to put in my man laundry,

The 750 was one of those "shall I, shan't I" purchases.
I've tried racing it as a stock Period 5 bike but its unlike any other 250 or 350 to race.
The frames were built for the vertically challenged and at 6'3" I cramp after a few laps. Messed with my head a bit and had to go back to the smaller bikes to get myself back in the groove !

I've met Croz a few times - he came to the BSFoS at Eastern Creek a few years ago and we had a chat, then I bumped into him at Spa and Mallory Park the same year.
John Woodley's brother Bruce does all my tuning. Top bloke. I just wished I had picked a 750 up in the early 80's when they were giving them away...........this one came from Forrest, Virginia. The guy had 3 !!
I was smitten after I took a mates Harris TZ750 around Spa...............I had to have one !!

Ken
They will do that - gotta watch those RZ pistons in the LC's.........
there is a thread about my Spondon on Norbo's site.
Still thinking of something..................

Hey Doug, can I come too. I was at Bathurst in 79, 80 and 81. It was all a bit of a alcoholic haze but I will always remember seeing Croz pulling monos going downhill through the dipper. Awesome stuff

Wow, funny eh? I'm on here every day but I have just noticed that I have been away for about the last 4 days. Just been in the shed and looking up how to's etc on.....CARB REBUILDING!!
Man, I was shit scared of carbs but they are actually quite a logical piece of kit when you tear one (or 4 ) down. Unfortunately we don't get any of the nice carb dip products here in Australia that our US cuz's find on every corner store shelf, so cleaning these things is a bit more of an issue, unless you buy 4 cans of CRC Carb Spray.

Anyway, I'll start a new thread soon with pics of the slightly dirty ones I started with, and they are progressing nicely. Gummed up/leaking carbs with stiff slides are never going to work properley on a bike., let alone allow it to start. Anyway this is on my project '92 that I have purchased from Baldy, (a wad of cash coming your way soon mate)  :good2:.   Its actually good practice so I know exactly what to do when its time to freshen up my carbs  :good:

Once you demystify them, CV carbs are pretty simple. I love Firehawks description.

.........To me these carburetors are very simple and easy to understand.................To others, they are this magic device where voodoo happens inside, and somehow gets the fuel to my engine......................

Very satisfying when you "man up" and tackle them only to find there's nothing scary inside and with a few basic do's and dont's you can't even stuff them up.
Well done.

+1 ^ on that.

Must've gone through these carbs at least six times now. I stumbled along the way early on, made some mistakes (you learn quickly from those), but know them inside and out now.

Guilty as charged, check in quite often but whenever someone poses a question there are far more knowledgeable people than me on here to answer it so tend to keep pretty quiet and I haven't seen anyone else from Sth Oz on here yet we seem to be pretty well spread out, not like we can pop out and meet up somewhere for lunch, but if I can ever help someone out in this part of Oz I'm more than willing to do so.
Now I have posted if there are free gifts from RPM on offer can I have a rear shock for Christmas.

John
My kids` inlaw`s are in The Barossa, but haven`t had the chance to get there lately. (despite being invited for Chrissy dinner in their Vineyard!). "Pominoz" lives near you, but he`s been lurking for a fair while now. (I`d send him a pm). I have booked to go to Broadford Bike Show for Easter if you want a great weekend ride.  :drinks:

Thanks General, Easter is always a family get together so can't make Broadford, I'm also a Pominoz so we should have a bit in common I'll look out for him.

Whoops! that shoulda read ....and ,and And.....Guess who`s given me accommodation and a bike to ride while I`m in Victoria next Easter for the Broadford Bike Bonanza.............Arnie! (Many thanks again mate).

Who`d of thought that A new topic topic would produce so many side topics! Thanks Ken!
(pssst! Jetstar has Easter Weekend Brissie flights for Broadford presently advertised at $218 RETURN!  ..... and I got a pub booked with spare beds for $40 nearby!)

What`s Broadford about? ....Everything bikes, old, new, racing tar & dirt, food, beer, displays, entertainment! (All on one site!)...Broadford was Australia`s best kept Motorcycle Industry secret!...with inherent accom demand (everything gets booked out!)..... Luckily I seem to have a way with publicans!     http://www.ma.org.au/index.php?id=1808.

....mmmmm...Not sure if this is off topic, but guess`n I should post a new topic not under new topic when I eventually get a chance.       :drinks:

What a nice bunch of chaps !! :good2:

I havn't been to see him for a while Arnie, we usually do stuff by phone and mail.

I was chatting to him a few weeks back about a project I had to fit a RD400 liner into a TZ700 cylinder to make a long stroke TZ motor - similar to the old Fahron cylinders of the 70's which are now like platinum hens teeth.

He gave me some pointers and measurements to check but stated it wasn't going to be easy.......

I've never been down to Broadford - maybe I should give it a try, my mate Nobby (Hyside Trading) usually has a stand ad could probably fix me up with a bike if I havn't got the 750 fixed.................
Still thinking of something..................

G'day all, I too have been away for quite  some time  :nea: But I will allways return, for me I have been looking at an old tent fly covering my 94 FJ, it 's reg. ran out on oct. 2013  :dash1: But it will be rehashed soon in readiness for my first trip to visit Philip Island  :yahoo: (so if anyone's going down in September let's maybe start another topic  ) I think the lurkiness here maybe just commitments , family, work & just plain life in general  :wacko1: Ozzies will get around to it when we get around to it !!!!!  :pardon:  A Quote for yoose, (don't know where it comes from   " Wisdom requires not only the investigation of many things, but contemplation of the mystery "   :bye2:
