G'day All, I've just picked up my 1991 Model FJ1200 (my first one). For those in the know it's base will be just north of Brisbane, Australia.

A mate of mine on the forum has been touting the fun of these bikes for a while now and I have to say that I agree with him now that I have one, before...

The bike's got just over 51,000 K on it (I'm just under that myself) and no problems with the engine that I can see at the moment.  Plastics aren't too bad but the Belly Pan/lower cowling? Has seen better days.  It also came with a full set of Givi luggage, Haynes & Clymer manuals which I'm lead to believe isn't a bad pick up.  The PO and I both walked away from the deal happy and that's what counts. Looking forward to getting to know the FJ and the Forum.

Welcome Smitti, having a local owner will add a lot of fun for you and your FJ....
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Thanks for the welcome, it looks like the FJ community is far broader than I thought so will be great getting to know the guys here as well.

Welcome to the forum.  And a new Brisbane rider.  You will find a lot of us packed into the southeast. Thats a nice looking ride. Maybe time for a breakfast ride to get us altogether.

Cheers

Welcome Smitty, looks like you got a good buy there. Plenty of us around the Brisbane area and we get together often for Manshed days, rides, etc...so don't be shy. What's the other bike in the pic with the chrome guard, something from the 70's I'm guessing.

Hey Tony, spot on - it's a 70's KZ650. Originally from the US, imported to the UK and now residing in Aus. More travelled than I am.  Ken really knows his bikes, I'm surprised that he didn't guess correctly that the colour was green (dropping my the shed may give him an inside running on the contents though) :good2:  The other bikes in my life come from the late 60's and early 70's but there doesn't seem to be any rivalry with the new arrival.

Thanks Mate, as they say "not that there is anything wrong with that", although I must admit the older black & gold scheme I've seen was a preference.  Who knows maybe one day the old girl will get a new coat.

Welcome Smitti,

they are a great bike. I love the style - last of the classic variety Jap bike IMO (other than the later XJ's). I havn't had mine a week yet...........bloody Sydney late arvo storms are stopping me getting out on it as much as I would like after work.
Still thinking of something..................
