Ojai mini-rally and rider DOWN!

So today turned out to be a great day!

Late last night, I was catching up on this forum and I saw that the Monkey was planning a ride today with SimiEd.  Huh?  I jumped on it!

The ride today was a cool 250 miles and looked like this:

We all met over at Ed's place in the late morning...okay...who's kidding who?  It was noon.    The Monkey figured out that his newly installed dog bones were making the center stand hang too low on his bike, so he removed it curbside.

We chatted about the general plan for the day and headed off.  We rode the 150 up to Ojai and stopped for an hour to have a nice lunch.  The clouds that had been working their way through the mountains were breaking up and we headed north.

Now for anyone who's ridden up through those mountains, the 33 is an excellent route!  The road is in great shape with spectacular views and just a bit of debris here and there to pay attention to.  The best part of all is that most of it looks like this section!!!

Yee-HA!  We all got into a nice pace and for me, the ride wasn't about the miles, it was about anticipating the next turn...and the next...the next...  Excellent!

We rode down another twisty road that ended at the old town of Scheideck on Reyes Creek at an elevation of around 4,000 feet.  We popped into the "Reyes Creek Bar and Grill" and had some sodas while we warmed up around the Franklin stove...after all, it was down in the 50's outside!

It was a nice place to visit with a couple of the locals asking us about our ride for the day.  We took a few shots of the FJ's in that setting...with the leaves putting us in that autumnal frame of mind just a week before Thanksgiving.

I'm thankful for my friendship with Mark and Ed, the rest of the FJ group here and mostly the opportunity to live the lives we do.   :hi:

Oh...Sorry for the misleading subject line, but we did find SimiEd down on the pavement at one point:

Trying to get juuuust that perfect angle with his camera!

A completely incident-free day and a good time was had by all!   :good2:

Yes, an awesome day, a bit cold getting home and very happy to have my grip warmers installed when I was visiting RPM not too long ago. My riding season is now extended and to Hell with 60F.... Oh wait, it was 42F at Fraizer park... The ice crystals were forming on Ed's helmet... I just might ride all year long....  :blum1: :blum1: :blum1:

With the crappy weather that we have been having, it is good to see you guys are out riding and spreading the FJ joy.   :hi:

It is good to see Ed's 89' back on the road.  :drinks:

I had a conversation with another member just last night, (both of us live in areas that frequently get snow and well below 32*f) and a question was asked. What are the 3 states that have the highest sales of heated motorcycle gear?

California
Texas
Arizona

Thanks for all the well wishes, folks!  It was nice to have an uneventful ride on the FJ (at last!).  In spite of the Photoshopped pic of me apparently down, I actually got a good shot of 3 FJs and their riders as well.

We did have a good ride, but we got a late start and ended up riding home the last 90 min. the dark, on the Interstate.  Not my favorite, but a passable end to a fun day out on the Fjs with friends.

Sorry for all of you that are snow bound until spring

Ed, you took one for the team and it looks really good. "Rider Down" can now be a good thing, in limited situations....

Not one pic of the FJ dollar bill or oversize undergarments???? Steve (Moparman) is gonna be pissed!!!  :ireful: :ireful: :ireful:

I took a pic of the bill in question, but I cannot see the evidence of the markings, so I passed on posting it.  But here it is ...

No pic of the offending undergarments...

My first thought when I saw that picture was: "Larry, Moe, and Curly ride?   Ride, Stooges, Ride!   Woo Woo Woo..."

I think I can safely speak on Ed's behalf and say your comment was not taken personally. Like many here, he can take a fair amount of crap when it is flung about in the spirit of fun and good natured jabs....

Thanks Mark, but I've got this one ...

Steve & Scott, just because you Florida guys can't believe that it's safe to lie on the ground w/o being chased by a gator :bad: , there's no need to bag on the FJ Stooges.

All's good on my side and remember, I can fling it as good as any Monkey.  :hi:
