ABS on rear brake only?

Sorry for one last abs question...Has anyone here kept their abs on their back brake, while using conventional brakes in the front?
I *suspect* that I would have to retain the stock front wheel with the abs sensor hooked up, so as not to throw a trouble code.
Just plug the hydraulic line at the pump that serves the front calipers?

That is exactly how my bike is set up but was done by the previous owner. As you said the ABS sensor is still connected and the brake line runs directly from the MC to the front caliper. Steel line and excellent stopping power.

Yes they work. Hit the pedal hard and you will feel the ABS kicking in. But I have got to say the front brake without ABS just "feels* better. Not as spongy as ABS. It depends on how you want your brakes to"feel"

Thanks, I don't mind a soft back brake. Between the front and back, the hardest I find to modulate at threshold is the back. My right fingers are much more responsive than my right foot. I practice diligently but I still find times where I lock up the back.

I agree. I think a lot of it is because we wear boots and also our feet are not as sensitive as our hands. ABS is more valuable on the rear as opposed to the front but that is just my opinion.

Really?  I can ride a sliding rear tire out for as long as it takes.  A sliding front tire will put you on your face in nothing flat (unless you're Marquez).  However, I grew up on dirt bikes and go through rear brake pads twice as often as fronts.  Just depends on what you're used to.

Yep same here....many many moons ago before dirt bikes, we had Stingrays...we used to flood our concrete driveway with a hose, sprinkle some sand and practice brodies. We put down some cones, then pedal like hell, lock up the back tire and try to steer the bike thru the cones with the back tire locked....it was fun.

Although, bicycles and dirt bikes are one thing....a fully laden FJ is another.

Still, back tire lockups are not a problem, but it's not the way to stop in the shortest distance.

I miss riding dirt bikes as a kid. So much fun

I meant ABS is more valuable at high speeds on the rear  . Slam on back brakes in an emergency at high speeds on concrete  especially in the wet and its not.  Dirt bikes in the mud are a different matter. Anyways I mostly use the fronts since they have 75% of stopping power.
